" 'My work at the moment has evolved and developed from a series of sketches based on the architectural qualities of the small ancient villages in the South of France.   The images have become so minimalist in form that their simplicity of shape and depth of colour create their own meaning".
Gwen Black

Gwen Black trained in art at Grays School of Art, in Aberdeen, Scotland, in the mid 70's.  Since then she has turned her creative talents to Jewelry Design, Knitwear Design, Interior and Garden Design, Ceramics, Photography and Printmaking, as well as Painting.

Retaining an out look which is original and fresh, Gwen works predominantly in abstract, using Printmaking Techniques and Mixed Media to create pieces of work with depth, dimension and texture.  She also has a pleasant and unique style of portraiture, often employing the use of multiple images.  Gwen has a studio in Aberdeen and also in the South of France, where she works for long periods throughout the year.
Citadels 1
"In my art, I describe myself as a good all rounder, a product of formal training and my own developing artistic creativity. I enjoy the sense of freedom which working in Abstract allows but also the interaction with my subject when  working in portraiture".

"For me, art is like any other sensory experience…...it's pleasure is derived purely from personal preference"
